Polyurethane Foam
Polyurethane foam is made by mixing polyols, diisocyanates, catalysts, auxiliary blowing agents and other additives and allowing the resulting mixture to rise freely. Most foam is manufactured using continuous processing technology, however can also be produced in smaller batches.
Smaller blocks of foam are made in open-topped moulds, boxes or other suitable containers. The foam is then cut to the desired thickness, size or shape for use in the upholstery, bedding and furniture trade.
Foam Densities
Foam densities are measured in kilogram per cubic metre and this will determine the quality of the foam.
- < 20 kg/m3 - Low density foam
- < 20 kg/m3 to 26 kg/m3 > Medium density foam
- > 26 kg/m3 High density foam
